Step 2: Layer Hydration

As temperatures drop, ambient moisture — the amount of water vapor naturally present in the air — decreases. In summer, higher humidity means your skin can hold onto water more easily. But in fall and winter, when the air is cooler and drier, it actually pulls water out of your skin in a process called transepidermal water loss.
